'Together with Jesus, we love to learn and learn to love'
Language teaching should enable pupils to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond to its speakers, both in speech and in writing. It should also provide opportunities for them to communicate for practical purposes, learn new ways of thinking and read great literature in the original language.” The National Curriculum.
Therefore at Immaculate Heart of Mary we believe that learning a modern foreign language opens doors to new cultures, broadens children's understanding of the world and equips them with valuable communication skills. Our vision is to foster confdent, curious, and enthusiastic language learners who enjoy discovering new languages and cultures.
As we transition from French to Spanish in the next academic year (2026-2027) we recognise that many language learning skills are transferable. Using the Language Angels scheme we will be able to deliver a broad, balanced and progressive curriculum that meets the needs the requirements of the National Curriculum and provides a strong foundation for future language learning.
